How do I know the status of my sync?
The Account toolbar menu icon lets you know when you are signed in and syncing Waterfox data across devices, and when you are logged out.
How do I know my Waterfox Sync status?
The toolbar menu lets you know your Moizlla Account and Sync status:
Waiting for email verification
If an envelope appears in your account icon, a verification email has been sent but you haven’t clicked it yet.
Logged out (not syncing)
If the icon is black with a white background, you are not logged in to Mozilla Account and your information is not syncing.
Signed in and syncing
If the icon is white with a black background, or if you see your personalized toolbar icon, you are signed in and Waterfox is currently syncing.
How do I personalize the toolbar icon with a photo or other image?
- Click the Account icon in the toolbar. (You will need to sign in to your Mozilla Account, if you are logged out.)
- In the drop-down menu, click on Account Settings, then click Manage Account.
- In the Mozilla Accounts page that opens, click the Add… button next to Account picture.

Why am I logged into Mozilla Accounts in Private Browsing?
If you open a private tab while logged into Mozilla Accounts, you will stay logged in on the private tab so you can continue managing bookmarks, access your synced passwords and save new passwords while in Private Browsing.
Since your history is not recorded in Private Browsing, Mozilla Accounts will not pick up or sync your browsing history.
